"It's about the Drug Industry..."

Why are we being bombarded with commercials from drug companies? Am I a doctor? No, or a pharmacist, No, or a registered nurse, No!! Can I write a prescription? No. Do any of us know which medicine is good for us?
Not too many is my guess at least in comparison to the population.

Then why on earth are the drug companies spending all of that money on advertising? It is all over television shows and magazines as well...and even in doctors' offices.

It seems to me that it would make more sense to lower the drug prices which are OUTRAGEOUS, use it for research and development on medicines for orphan diseases, or even donate huge supplies of drugs for AIDS etc. to those people who cannot afford them...both here and abroad.

All we can really do with that advertising is bug our doctors who don't need that kind of hassle. Makes no sense to me.

On the same type of topic...why on earth does our cable outlet advertise when it is the only one available to us? Weird. I know. It is because of the satellite dishes. But they draw very little distinction between the advantage of one over another. But they sure spend the loot. Lower my bill, please.
